EMMITTSBURG, Md. (WUSA) -- The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mount Saint Mary's University caught on fire.

School officials say there were flames in the bell tower Friday around 9 p.m. A student told authorities he say lightning hit the tower.

The fire was under control within hours. According to authorities, there were no injuries.

In a press release, the school posted: "We give our thanks to God that the fire was contained but mostly we thank God no one was injured," said President Thomas H. Powell.
